Rihanna is back with a new song after a long hiatus.
Rihanna is making a comeback since her 2016 album Anti, Rihanna just joined the marvel universal by releasing an original song as part of the soundtrack and it will also be the lead single for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The song titled “lift me up” was written by Nigeria singer Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Goransson, Rihanna and also director Ryan Coogler. The song will pay tribute to the life and legacy of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, the original soundtrack will be directed by Oscar winner Ludwig Goransson.
In an interview with singer Tems about the journey of her writing the song and how she got her inspiration, the singer said when she spoke with one of the song writer and the movie director Ryan, and he let know the direction they want the song to go. Tems said she wanted to portray an emotion of what it will be like if the people we’ve lost are around for us to sing to them, tell them how much we love and miss them, and for us to be able to embrace us and reciprocate the emotion back to us.
Talking about working with Rihanna, she said Rihanna is her role model, an inspiration to her music and someone she looks up to, so to hear Rihanna singing a song in which she was part of the people that wrote the lyrics, it’s something she didn’t imagine will ever happen to her, and it was a dream come true, an “honor” to be able to work with her.
Chadwick Boseman, who played Blank Panther and also King T’challa in the movie “Black Panther” died after 4 years battle with colon cancer at the tender age of 43.
In the First Movie Black Panther, their King, T’challaa died and the universe went through five-year jump, Wakanda Forever will be the continuation, it will show how the Wakanda citizen are coping with the loss of their king, and how they are going to bounce back because the world think they are vulnerable with Black Panther not there to defend them.
The cast of Wakanda Forever are: Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Daniel Gurira and Florence Kasumba. Both the cast and the director have all talked about how happy they are that the new movie pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, it shows the journey of the actors, and how they mourn the late actor and later healed together during the production of the movie.
Following the internet breaking announcement of Rihanna headlining the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime show which make all her fans happy for her return, the original soundtrack “lift me up” sang by Rihanna will be the fashion icon’s first single since 2016, even though she has been featured in many songs with artist like Kendrick Lamer and future, “lift me up” will be the opening of a new musical era of the singer.
